On 8th July, I completed the first stage of a personal ambition in that I completed a Half Iron Man Triathlon which took place at Emberton Park Nr Olney in Buckinghamshire on probably the only sunny day in July.
The event consists of a 1.9k swim in open water, a 92k bike ride and rounds off with a 21k (half marathon) run all of which I completed in just over six hours. Although I certainly didn't trouble the leaders I went into the event thinking that anything under seven hours would be OK and so I was really pleased with the result.
I was doubly pleased that through generous donations from friends family and work colleagues, I also raised £1030.00 for the charity.
Stop Press - i have just entered for Iron Man France which will be my big fund raising effort in 2008.
