If you would like to give something to Teach Africa then marshalling could be for you.

Would you like to volunteer?
Our marshals are the heart and soul of every event, none of which could be staged without their hard work and dedication. They're also there to cheer on the athletes and make sure they complete the course safely.

We've been extremely fortunate to be able to call upon a fantastic pool of marshals and we're always on the lookout for more volunteers to help build the team. If you'd like to join us then please don't hesitate to contact Steve on steve.adams@teach-africa.org

Why be a marshal?
Knowing that you have contributed to delivering a great event raising money for a great cause, or causes as many Teach Africa events also share with other charities. Marshals receive a huge amount of appreciation from athletes either on race day or simply by comments posted on the website, check them out on Runnersworld. We offer free event entry to all our volunteer marshals. If you can't take part in an event and you'd like to give something in another way to Teach Africa, then marshalling could be perfect for you. In return for helping out, our marshals get a free entry into any Go Beyond one day event.

What roles are there?
We try and cater to an individual's preference and experience.Timing, registration, finishers management, prize giving, race course control, water stations, car parking, bike marshals, transition, course set up and design. If you're a mountain biker then you can join the fun and ride around the courses reporting back and guiding the lead runners.

What are the perks?
We always offer tea & coffee free to all marshals and of course there is the legendary Go Beyond fruit cake baked to a secret family recipe. Depending on the length of race additional food & drink throughout the event is available. You'll get a free event t-shirt and free entry to any one day Go Beyond event. This can be transferred to a friend as well, so your next present could be something they really want!

How does this work?
Firstly we'll add you to our marshals list and then nearer the event date we'll send an email. Check your diary and let us know if you're available. Closer to the event date maps and instructions are sent out specifying times, locations and your specific responsibilities. We will be in close contact before and during the event, so there's no need to worry.

We welcome ideas on fundraising opportunities, email steve.adams@teach-africa.org if you would like to host an event in aid of the charity.
